Apricot Apple Glazed Ham with Bacon
Ingredients:
- 1 bone-in ham 7-8 pounds
- 12 slices of bacon
- 1 cup apricot preserves
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
Set the oven temperature to 325F 160C
Make shallow cuts on the surface of the ham in the shape of a diamond to score it
Using toothpicks, enclose the ham in the bacon slices
Apricot preserves, apple cider, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, ground cloves, and ground cinnamon should all be combined in a saucepan
Stir the mixture and cook over medium heat until it thickens and becomes syrupy
After wrapping the ham in bacon, put it in a roasting pan and season it with black pepper and salt
Using a brush, evenly coat the ham with the apricot apple glaze
Once the oven is preheated, cover the ham with aluminum foil and roast it for approximately 15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 140F 60C
Every 30 minutes, baste the ham with the glaze
Take off the foil during the final fifteen minutes of cooking so that the glaze can caramelize and the bacon can get crispy
After the ham is cooked, take it out of the oven and allow it to rest for fifteen to twenty minutes before slicing
Drizzle any remaining apricot apple glaze over slices of glazed ham before serving
